Some things take time.
Issue 02: Recovery Vol. 01 is limited to 350 copies. It includes 168 pages of interviews, essays, confessions, visual artwork, photography, song lyrics and hella soul. That's 50+ pages 4-color fine art risograph, 50+ glossy CMYK color pages and 50+ xerox pages of contraband colored office paper w/ OG black toner. It comes in a package that also includes a bookmark, a pin, misc printed insert slips and errata — and proudly — a 1-of-1 5-color risograph printed poster using recycled paper salvaged from our many mistakes in the making of Vol. 01 of this issue. It measures 7 in. by 9 in. by .5 in.
let’s be completely transparent: this issue, and Powertrip Worldwide generally, is not for the faint of heart. Our purpose here is deeply rooted in passion, big feelings, and the kinds of obsessive compulsion that make us human.
Many of us in this community aren't just managing physical injuries on the sidelines; we are actively navigating various spectrums of depression, anxiety, chemical imbalance, chemical dependency, and chemical abstinence.
It is because of these exact internal crucibles that we look at Recovery through a radically compassionate and radically human prism. It’s about what we do as human beings to feel a little bit more sane, a little bit more whole, or a little bit more ready to tackle the next round.
We want you to feel something from this release, to pick up what we are putting down, so the details of these materials matter a lot to us. The entire publication is produced locally with people we know on a first name basis. Big shoutout to the light manufacturing industry of Los Angeles County, without which Powertrip Worldwide's publishing probably wouldn't be possible and certainly not as fun.
