Powertrip© Worldwide is a global fight fanzine
based in Los Angeles.
We’re a creative publisher that celebrates global grappling cultures, built on the idea that fighting’s true purpose isn’t to destroy others but to bring us closer together. We’re run by artists who grapple and grapplers who create. Physicality is culture, grappling is art, and the best self-improvement tool is a savvy training partner.
Inaugural Edition
1) Document
Powertrip© is a fanzine first.
It’s a collection of stories, images, firsthand accounts and outside perspectives worth chronicling and sharing with the community.
Jiu Jitsu is a non-monolithic global art form. Our project is to illuminate more and more of the game’s worldwide voices.
We use our print platform as an exploratory learning tool, much like we approach training.
2) Artifact
We make physical objects to honor a tactile art.
Jiu Jitsu is a fleeting art in the sense that it happens in real time and when the round timer goes off, it’s over.
But the art gets imbued in objects around it. We’re inspired by everything from worn gis and threadbare tatamis, to framed fan art and fingertape.
3) Practice
Every Powertrip© release comes with an element you can add to your training.
Practice makes practice. Games help us forget that we’re learning and removing inhibition.
We believe Jiu Jitsu’s beauty is born in the state of play that makes us better grapplers.
We’re interested in sharing games that help us all discover more of our potential.
